Sorcerers! Check it out - soft caps on magicka and stamina attributes makes health a primary stat
Well, at least for Altmer / Breton races as it seems ..
This is information from tamrielfoundry moderator who has been playing the closed beta as an Altmer sorcerer for a long time.
He was asked how he would distribute sorcerer's attribute points and the answer is not what I expected.
49 health, 0 magicka, 0 stamina.
I'll continue with a quote:
You can cap magicka regen and magicka without putting any points into magicka. You can come back and tell me how much of a waste it is when you get 4, yes, FOUR points of magicka per attribute point instead of 20 points of health because you are running smack dab into the soft cap
Damage scales with total magicka, not how many points you put into it. So, putting points into it when it’s softcapped ends up becoming an exercise in futility as the gains just don’t outweigh what can be gained by putting points elsewhere.
It’s quite easy to cap magicka, and yeah you get 20 points naturally each level, but again with the Mage mundus stone, +magicka >enchants on your armor, you can pretty much softcap magicka as an Altmer or Breton pretty easily without assigning any of your attribute points to it. So why would you want to waste those points that could be placed elsewhere?
He also states that:
Survivability becomes far more key over raw DPS in higher level content.
I dunno how I feel about all this. Why investing points into health is not soft capped whereas into stamina and mana soft capped? It doesn't sit well with me
Btw here is his lvl 50 sorcerer
He has more health than normal because he has bonus health from having an AD Emperor and bonus health for being in Cyrodiil.
PS Nybling, the person in question ;) , was kind enough to join this discussion. Feel free to ask him any questions you have.
