It was the biggest surprise of the year for me too (wasn't even planning to buy the game). The game does have many shortcomings, of course, (then again, what game doesn't?) but the atmosphere and the difficulty progression are very well done. PB is really good at making you feel like you're at the very bottom of the local food chain and hierarchy, slowly working your way up.
